Oregon is awash with over 238 stunning cascading waterfalls from basalt cliffs, some with views from suspension bridges. It’s not easy to pick but let’s explore some of my favourite epic waterfalls in Oregon.
Multnomah Falls | Oregon
Located a mere 30-minute drive from Portland along the Historic Columbia River Highway, the 620ft Multnomah Falls is Oregon’s tallest waterfall. It is two-tier cascade fed by rainwater and snow that runs down the mountains. Multnomah Falls is an all year round attraction as it runs steadily but sometimes freezes in the coldest of winters.

Silver Falls State Park | Oregon
Taking 1 hour to drive to Silver Falls State Park from Portland to find an abundance of waterfalls if you hike the 7.2 mile loop. The park is a real unique gem as you can actually walk behind the waterfalls and watch the magic happen from a different perspective.

Abiqua Falls | Oregon
One hour drive south of Portland, you will reach the Abiqua Falls Trailhead. There is a little hike down a rugged path, over logs and boulders but this is a sight worth seeing. The water pours 92ft down the pillar-like basalt cliffs, decorated with red lichen and green moss. Abiqua Falls is part of the same geological formation as Silver Falls State Park, just a little harder to reach.
